DESCRIPTION:The Yankton Parks\, Recreation\, and City Events Department invites the public to attend the planting of a "liberty tree" as a part of Yankton\, SD Celebrates America's 250 on Thursday\, September 17\, 8:30am to 9:00am\, in Fantle Memorial Park. The tree planting will take place east of the large flag pole in the middle of the park. Please park in The Huether Family Aquatics Center parking lot to access the area.\n\n\n\nCome to the planting celebration and hear a proclamation from Yankton's Mayor. See the Valley Forge Elm be planted. See the plaque that will be installed at the base of the tree. Hear a Yankton Middle School student speak about America's liberty trees and why September 17 is an important date in America's history.
